Polymer clay artist Melanie West's buttons are seriously fun. They would be a fabulous addition to a handknit sweater, cowl or hat - not for those who are afraid of color! Each style is unique, made in the centuries old technique of forming a clay cane. Each style has a run of about 2 dozen buttons.
What drives Melanie's current work with polymer is a lifelong fascination with Nature's use of extravagant forms, colors and patterns. Nature never ceases to amaze, and she has always been compelled to answer that amazement in her work.
Melanie lives in the woods of Georgetown, surrounded by a plethora of wildlife.
