The Gotland breed was first established on the Swedish island of Gotland by the Vikings with Karakul and Romanov sheep brought back from expeditions deep into Russia and then crossed with the native landrace sheep. A wonderful wool for both spinning and felting, Gotland wool is similar to the grey Icelandic. Beautiful grey shades of soft fiber. 30-35 microns and 3+ inch staple.
