Isager

Isager is a Danish yarn company founded in 1977, known for natural-fiber yarns designed to be held together in combination rather than knit strictly on their own. Our selection spans laceweight to sport, including their well-known Silk Mohair halo yarn, alpaca bases, and a strudy sock yarn.

Isager yarns are built around a distinctly Scandinavian approach: rather than offering one yarn per weight, many of their bases are designed to be held together with each other, letting you dial in a custom gauge and blend colors or textures in a single project. Silk Mohair, a mohair-silk lace yarn, is a good example — it can be knit alone for something airy, or held together with a heavier Isager base (or any other yarn) to add a soft halo and subtle color depth.

Our selection also includes alpaca-based yarns for softness and drape, a fingering weight sock yarn with the durability that implies, and Soft Fine, a sport-weight yarn built around a silk core with alpaca and yak looped around it. Because several of these yarns are meant to be combined rather than used solo, it's worth checking the individual product page or a pattern's recommendation for which combination achieves a particular gauge.
