Brown Sheep Company has been spinning American wool in Mitchell, Nebraska since 1980, family-owned from the start and still handling their own spinning and dyeing in-house. Our Brown Sheep selection includes their well-known and -loved Lamb's Pride wool-mohair blends and their pure wool Nature Spun and Prairie Spun lines.

Brown Sheep Company sources and processes wool domestically, doing its own spinning and dyeing at its Nebraska mill rather than outsourcing production overseas. That in-house control shows up in their color consistency — the company keeps dye-lot samples on hand for years specifically so a skein bought today can match one bought long ago.

Lamb's Pride, their best-known yarn, is a wool-mohair blend that adds a bit of halo and durability to a classic wool base, available in worsted and bulky weight. Nature Spun and Prairie Spun are pure wool yarns spun for even, reliable stitch definition, good for garments where you want wool's natural elasticity and breathability without a blend.
