We have put together 80 yards of hand spun German angora from Daylilly B True Angoras in Windsor, Maine, with 80 yarns of superwash merino spun by Jagger Spun in Springvale, Maine to create a simple, yet warm hat for a 3-9 month old baby. (If you want to knit it for a larger baby, you can knit the pattern as written with one size larger needle.) The angora "blooms" the more it is handled and creates a halo affect.
The two yarns are knit together to create a shrink resistant hat. However, hand washing is still recommended.
The kit contains the yarns and pattern in an organza bag, and makes a nice gift.
Not included, but required, are a 16" US 8 needle (5mm) and double point needles in a US 7 (4.5mm) or US 8 (5mm) for closing the top of the hat. An optional 16" US 7 needle (4.5mm) is recommended for the ribbing.
