This Finnsheep yarn comes to us from Aroostook County, where the sheep are raised and their fiber processed and spun into yarn.
Each 3.5 ounce skein has approximately 200 yards and knits up at a worsted/heavy worsted weight. The dark brown/black is the most "black" natural and undyed yarn we have yet to see. Each skein in this colorway is approximately 3.3 oz.
Finnsheep wool offers a nice combination of softness and durability, with a little bit of luster. If you are not up for knitting or crocheting a sweater, one skein is enough for a hat, mittens or a single wrap cowl. We think an accessory, where the knitted or crocheted fabric directly touches the skin, is the best use of this yarn.
Hand wash, lay flat to dry.
Wonderful light wool. I knit a grey shawl with picot bind off for the edges. After washing and blocking I am very happy with it. Pattern: Mandarine. PS. Heavenly Yarns in Belfast is a great shop. They are very helpful and mail yarn out quickly.
