Bluestocking is hand dyed 80% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool and 20% nylon. Bluefaced Leicester is an English breed of sheep with long, lustrous and strong fiber suitable for projects that require a durable yarn. It is firm yarn, yet it has a soft hand. This 3 ply yarn is put up in generous skeins of 420 yards. It knits up at 7 or 8 sts. per inch on a US size 1 or 2 needle.
This yarn is not just for socks, it is great for shawls and garments on larger needles. Although it is superwash, we recommend hand washing to maintain the beauty of the finished product.
String Theory Hand Dyed Yarn is located in Blue Hill. The artisan brings 10 years of yarn dyeing experience to her work, focusing on quality fibers and distinctive colors for all creative hand knitters.
haven't knitted it yet. The colors came true to the computer photos. looks as if it will be a fine yarn to knit up. I would recommend it if String Theory were not retiring.
The blues in this yarn are just awesome--slight variegation that is reminiscent of sky and ocean. I am saving it for a speical project!
